I grew up in a small town, in the 90s, with an imagination unhindered by the constant distraction available today.
In a word, I was a kid when you could still be actually 'bored'.
When you're mind could wander down dark paths of the Michigan woods, far past where you dared to go, and wonder what was there. When sounds and shapes and red lights glowing from atop mill silos seemed something like something more.
Between that, and a healthy diet of The X-Files, Are You Afraid Of The Dark, Twin Peaks, and the Twilight Zone, I had all the imagination fuel to turn my childhood and my hometown into the first book I would ever publish.
I just didn't know it yet.
I'm Ryder, and 'Welcome To Westville' is my debut novel, a hometown supernatural thriller inspired by my small town of Lowell, MI, set in the mid 90s and infused with the paranormal happenings clandestine conspiracies and small town mystery.
Think Stephen King, Stranger Things, The X-Files and Alan Wake.
If you're looking for a thriller with:
✅ A missing girl in peril
✅ Small town intrigue and surreality
✅ Liminal dread and dimensional terror
✅ Relatable characters you worry for and root for
✅ Quick, cinematic pacing
...this one just might be for you.
It'd be my pleasure to welcome you, to Westville.

(My love for all things 90s film and tv might be just a little evident in the book trailer below)
